LOCAL COFFEE COMPANY GETS HELP FROM COMPETITOR

The Local Coffee Company based in Oak Grove, Oregon in the USA had been open less than a year when one of the owners – Dave McAdams was diagnosed with terminal cancer. His wife and partner in the business, Tina, wanted to spend as much time as possible with Dave, but that meant having to close the shop.

Step into the frame, Pixie Adams, owner of a competitors coffee shop – the Moonlight Coffeehouse. Pixie closed her own shop to come over and help run the Local Coffee Company for a day while Tina got some things sorted. Now, you might think that already deserves an award of some kind, but Pixie isn’t finished – she decides to set up a fundraiser called the Moonlight Takeover fundraiser on social media to help cover the couple’s business and medical costs.

The coffee industry is hyper competitive, but Pixie has set an example I hope others will follow, if not hopefully under such sad circumstances.
