COFFEE BY DESIGN HIRES DIRECTOR OF COFFEE AND WHOLESALE OPERATIONS

Coffee By Design recently hired Jeremy Behne as its director of coffee and wholesale operations.

Most recently he was director of coffee for Larry’s Coffee Company in Raleigh, NC, a larger scale micro-roaster focused on organic and fair trade coffee. Prior to that position he was manager and wholesale trainer for Greenstreet Coffee Company in Philadelphia, PA. Behne has over a decade of experience working in coffee wholesale and retail operations.

Behne is an active member of the Specialty Coffee Association (SCA), a Certified AST holding barista and brewing professional and was a station instructor for SCAA Barista Camp. He was also a lead teacher at Coffee Fest Baltimore, offering instruction on milk steaming and espresso preparation for beginner level baristas.

Coffee By Design co-owner Alan Spear said, “We’re excited to have Jeremy here, working with our team at the roastery and our wholesale customers on coffee preparation, equipment and product development.”

Behne added, “I’ve worked with startup roasters and established companies; what drew me to CBD was the company’s rich history and its commitment to the community. After my first conversation with owners Mary Allen and Alan, I knew I wanted to be a part of that story and to continue to grow and enrich the legacy of great coffee brought to Maine by amazing people. From day one CBD felt like a place where it’s not just a fun work environment, because let’s be real who wouldn’t want to drink and be around coffee all day, but it was also doing good for the local community and for the places where we source our coffee.”
