BRAZIL COFFEE EXPORT REPORT SUMMARY – JUNE 2022

KEY POINTS

  • Brazil exports 39.6 million coffee bags in the 2021/22 harvest and registers record revenues of USD 8.1 billion
  • The result represents a 13.3% drop in volume but a 38.7% increase in dollar amount when compared to 2020/21
  • According to the council’s president, Günter Häusler, in view of the reduced harvest due to the low biennial cycle of Arabica coffee plantations and all the existing logistical bottlenecks, with high freight costs, bookings cancellations, cargo rollovers, and less availability of containers and space on ships, the performance recorded in 2021/22 is positive.

The revenue, which registered a historical value, is a reflection of the favorable exchange rate and the professionalism and exemplary work that Brazilian exporters have been performing in times of challenges and difficulties, which allowed Brazil to maintain its footprint in global trade and take advantage of the high international prices.
