Mahlkonig has decided to focus on the premium end of the market and discontinue their home grinder range. The Vario Home was considered a very good product for serious home users that understood the value of a quality grinder in making home espresso.
The company sites the success of their high-end product, the E65s, and E80 and E65S GbW products as being the reason for discontinuing the Home Vario. However, more likely is the intense competition in the home market, with cheaper options such as ones from Sage gaining in popularity.
There may be time to pick one up at a discount while stocks last, and the company assures owners that parts will continue to be made available.
