FILIPINO CHOCOLATE WINS 10 AWARDS AT THE ACADEMY OF CHOCOLATE 2020

Filipino chocolate is making an appearance in the global market with bean-to-bar Auro Chocolate taking home 10 international awards at the 12th Academy of Chocolate 2020 (AOC).

This adds to the 24 awards won by 5 Filipino chocolate brands at the 11th Academy of Chocolate (AOC) awards last year, which Auro Chocolate contributed to.

Since 2005, The Academy of Chocolate Awards holds its annual competition searching for fine chocolate globally.

THE AOC had 1,600 submissions from more than 45 countries where the chocolates are judged by leading chocolatiers, producers, journalists, bloggers, food writers, and other chocolate experts from across the industry.

Held in London, judges deliberate over key categories including;

  • Bean to Bar
  • Tree to Bar
  • Flavoured
  • Milk and White Bars
  • Filled chocolates
  • Spreads
  • packging

A ‘Supreme Jury’ panel further judges the ‘Gold’ and ‘Special Award’ winners.

Products are marked on appearance, depth of aroma and flavour, length and complexity to determine the gold, silver, and bronze winners in each category.

The winners of the AOC 2020 are listed here.

Auro Chocolate announced on it’s Instagram the news of bringing home 3 Golds, 6 Silvers and 1 Bronze. A total of 10 international awards from the prestigious Academy of Chocolate 2020.

Auro Chocolate said,

It is a true honor and privilege to do what we love everyday. We will never stop as we promise to continue to learn and strive for the best in representing quality Filipino-made chocolate on the world stage.

Auro Chocolate is a Filipino bean-to-bar company that produces fine cacao and chocolate made from directly sourced beans from Mindanao farming partners.

They buy their beans at a premium for the quality and to give farmers the opportunity to improve their standard of living.

The company crafts all of our products from scratch at their modern factory in Calamba, Laguna that is equipped with the latest technologies and certifications (HACCP, HALAL).

Since their launch in May 2015, they have become the fastest growing premium bean-to-bar chocolate company in the Philippines and even opened their first retail store in Tokyo, Japan.

With a total of 36 international awards under their belt, including the Top 20 Best Cacao Beans in the World Award, we look forward to seeing them progress further in the international market.
