Piero Bambi (1934-2020), son of the founder of La Marzocco, and it’s honorary president
Peiro Bambi died on March 22, in Florence, Italy at the age of 86.
Piero was known for his passion, not just in espresso, but in design and engineering. Considered a true crafsman by those who knew him, he worked all parts of the business, starting as a technician and only later getting involved with the design of modern La Marzocco machines.
Perhaps most famously, he is credited with the clean classic designs of the La Marzocco Linea machine, which was first released in 1990. Later he wrote a book titled “Coffee Machines for Use in Bars”, spearheading the International expansion of La Marzocco, contributing to the success of the brand today.
Today, 23 March, La Marzocco will close all their factories to allow those who knew him a day of mourning.
