COSTA BARISTABOT REPLACES BRIGGOS

British coffee chain and Coca-Cola subsidiary Costa Coffee presents BaristaBot. US coffee automation company Briggo made an announcement on Twitter stating Briggo’s CoffeeHaus automated kiosk has been terminated, and replaced with the Costa Coffee BaristaBot.

BaristaBot is a 40 square foot machine that acts as a 24/7 robotic barista. You order your drink and pay through its app and you will receive text when your drink is ready to be picked up.

Drinks are fully customisable offering whole bean, hot or iced coffees ground fresh to order with dairy, non-dairy, and syrup options.

The automated kiosk originated from Briggo where they had raised $19 million in funding to date. Its coffee robot was among a new wave of stand alone automated kiosks that were looking to re-invent the vending machine by combining robotics with higher-end food.

Briggo had Coffee Hauses up and running in a number of locations around Austin, US. Briggo had formed a partnership with SSP America last year to open up new kiosks in 25 airports over the course of this year and next.

That was before the COVID-19 pandemic crisis and had devastating effects on the air travel industry. Whether any of these locations are still around is unknown.

It seems Costa Coffee which has the resources to expand and operate more kiosks than Briggo could have on its own.

The automated kiosks currently can be found in various locations in the US.
