DUBAI’S DMCC TO LAUNCH COCOA CENTRE

The Dubai Multi Commodities Centre (DMCC) is planning a major Centre of Cacao inside the free zone.

If all goes to plan, DMCC plans in mid-2021 to incubate a range of cacao services within its DMCC Coffee Centre in Jebel Ali. The hope is that this will transform the emirate into an international trade hub for cacao.

It is understood that the state-run office is talking to a number of key cocoa organisations in order to gain a better understanding of how the DMCC can play an active role in the industry.

A spokesperson for the government said that previously some were sceptical of the Tea Centre, launched in 2005, which now is seen as a success. They believe that the same will be true for Cacao.

The DMCC Cacao Centre represents the next phase of our growth strategy and will see us transform Dubai into a global hub for the cacao trade. – Ahmed bin Sulayem, executive chairman and CEO of DMCC.

The organisation plans to launch an awareness of the superfood via a webinar series this year.
