COVID CREATES HOME BARISTA’S, ACCORDING TO STUDY

photo from National Coffee Association

It may come as no surprise that at-home orders and social distancing caused by the pandemic would increase the amount of coffee being brewed at home but we have stats to back it up.

According to the National Coffee Data Trends Survey,

Not only were people working on their barista skills at home, but 25% of participants also purchased new coffee formats (I’m assuming whole-bean vs k-cup vs etc) and another quarter purchased new coffee machines.

Perhaps smaller chain coffee shops will be able to tap into the wannabe home barista market and create tutorial kits. Maybe an instructional kit for making cappuccinos, mochas, etc.

As vaccinations roll out and pandemic related restrictions ease up, nearly 48% of Americans are returning to their favourite coffee shops.
