COSTA SERVES COCA COLA FLAVOURED COFFEE

Costa stores across China launched a new range of Coca Cola flavoured coffee in May 2020, as part of the coffee chain’s summer menu and includes a Coca Cola flavour Latte and a Coca Cola Cappuccino.

In July, they will also be offering a Cold Brew version. When describing the new Coca Cola Flavour Cold Brew, a Costa Coffee Spokesperson said:

The familiar crisp taste of the classic Coca Cola complements the smooth mellow coffee flavours found in our Cold Brew coffee. When served over ice, this is a truly refreshing summer drink.

This pairing may seem daring from a western perspective, but flavours are very different to what we are used to as Costa’s in China also serve; Red Date Fermented Rice Latte, Lucky Candy Latte, Five Blessings latte, and Rose Black La-Tea.

Visitors to China in the past have been shocked to see expensive bottles of wine at restaurants being mixed with Cola’s, so it seems the Chinese love of the soda continues into the coffee industry.

Coca Cola acquired Costa Coffee back in 2018 for £3.9 billion, so there’s no surprise to see the company bring them together in a market that loves colas so much.
