UNILEVER UNVEILS ICE CREAM FEATURING RUBY CHOCOLATE

Unilever P.L.C. is introducing Magnum Ruby Minis, making Magnum Ice Cream the first national ice cream brand in the United States to launch an ice cream featuring the new ruby chocolate variant, Unilever said.

The new mini ice cream bars pair sweet cream ice cream with ruby cacao, which expresses a berry-like flavor and pink color. Each bar contains 130 calories.

“As the chocolatiers of ice cream, we’re uniquely positioned to launch the first ice cream featuring this new chocolate variant, ruby,” said Leslie Miller, director of marketing of ice cream in North America for Unilever. “We’re excited to give Magnum ice cream fans another decadent ice cream and cacao pairing, creating the ultimate indulgence moment.”

Magnum Ruby Minis are available in packs of six bars at selects retailers and will be available nationwide beginning in February for a suggested retail price of $4.99.

Discovered in 2017 by Barry Callebaut, ruby is the first new chocolate in 80 years, following white chocolate, dark chocolate and milk chocolate. Ruby chocolate features a reddish color and is not bitter, milky or sweet. It has a berry fruitiness and smoothness, according to Barry Callebaut. No berries, berry flavor or color is added to ruby chocolate.
