UCC’S DARTFORD FACTORY HIT BY FIRE

Firefighters were called to a significant fire that broke out at UCC Coffee UK in Dartford in Kent on 11 October 2018.

In a statement, UCC UK and Ireland managing director Elaine Swift said: “As many of you will be aware, on Thursday 11 October a fire broke out in the warehouse at our roastery in Dartford. While it’s likely to be some time before we understand the cause, we have had confirmation that our production and packaging areas have had minimal damage.

“We are starting to get back on our feet and return to work, and with the help and support from our colleagues across the UCC family our aim is to provide a continued supply of products to our customers.

“Our UCC Europe network of roasteries across Spain, France and The Netherlands worked with us to implement our recovery plan just 12 hours after the fire started, with coffee roasting taking place just 36 hours later.

“We’re proud to have our roots in Dartford, our roastery has been part of the local community for many years and we’d like to thank the residents for their understanding and patience. Finally, we’d like to show our appreciation to the Kent Fire Brigade for their fast response and for working throughout the night to contain the fire and limit the damage.”
