STARBUCKS REMOVES 25 ITEMS FROM U.S. MENU AFTER SUPPLY SHORTAGE

Social media is buzzing with news that Starbucks staff are using 3rd party and generic ingredients to make drinks as the company faces a nationwide shortage. Many stores are unable to provide some customer favourites including, chai tea bags, iced green tea, hazelnut syrup and toffee nut syrup.

Some stores have taken to buying their own syrups, but others just removed the menu items. One person wrote:

Starbucks is putting chai lattes on hold bc there is a shortage this is the worst day of my life – Twitter

I think first-world problems have reached new heights. Starbucks themselves have kept reasonably tight-lipped, although they are confirming the shortage to news outlets.

Specific items will vary by market and store, and some stores will experience outages of various items at the same time. We apologize for the inconvenience. – Starbucks spokeswoman Sanja Gould

The company may have been caught short on supplies as the result of a surge in demand after lockdowns were lifted.
