A coffee shop in London, is selling what it claims to be “the most expensive cup of coffee in the UK” for £50 (US $65). Availability is limited as there is only 15 servings of the costly brew.
Queens of Mayfair, was opened by sisters Grace and Victoria Sheppard in March 2020, is located on Queen Street in Mayfair which is an affluent area in the West End of London.
The Ethiopian “Cup of Excellence” Queens Coffee being sold by the artisan coffee shop was purchased at auction by the company’s roaster, Difference Coffee Co.
According to Queens of Mayfair, Difference Coffee Co was one of only two companies in the UK invited to buy the coffee at auction.
The rare beans, which won first place at the Cup of Excellence Competition, typically retail for approximately £2,000 (US $2590) per kilogram.
The beans were bought at auction in June this year before being roasted in London this month.
The process involves the beans being ground by hand, then served to customers in a crystal wine glass.
