Since the 1960s, the world-famous coffee grinders have been manufactured in the district of Wandsbek, Hamburg.
The main plant of Mahlkönig has been located for more than half a century in Hamburg and is now part of the Hemro Group’s worldwide production network.
With the success of the EK43 and in view of the production start of the new high-end Next-Generation espresso grinders, the existing facilities have recently been pushed to its limits.
In addition to expanding the production and assembly capacities, the selection of a new location was primarily driven by the desire to improve the technical infrastructure and create a pleasant working environment for employees.
We do not simply need more space and a more modern equipment, but rather an environment that optimally reflects the premium claim of the Mahlkönig brand both externally and internally towards our employees.
Dr. Marcel Lehmann, CEO of Hemro Group
According to the company, the internationally increasing demand has recently brought them almost to the edge of their production capacities.
Since a further expansion of the existing plant was not practical, the company decided to find a new location. After an intensive search, the decision was made favouring a neighbouring site, which had recently become vacant.
The offices and assembly areas’ move was completed at the beginning of June, after two years of renovation.
The new plant has open space and large, light-flooded halls that make lean manufacturing processes more transparent, and offers a spacious and modern working environment to approximately 100 employees.
In addition to that, the new commercial and administrative areas are also more spacious, contemporary, and open than before.
The offices are furnished in many places with brand-specific design elements reflecting the identity, tradition, and innovativeness of the four Hemro brands.
