UK based vegan chocolate company named Truffle Pig Chocolates has had a 50 percent rise in the number of online orders in the middle of the current pandemic.
“Many people are sending chocolates as a present to those who are self-isolating at the moment,” told owner Lily Gaskell to The Yorkshire Post. “It’s wonderful how something as small as receiving chocolate can make their day-she added.”
The self-taught chocolatier stated that her business has benefited because of the increase in popularity of veganism over the last few years. Easter is usually the company’s busiest time of year, but online sales were high, with more than 150 online orders every week. However, Truffle Pig Chocolates’ wholesale orders have decreased by 30 percent, online demand for specific items, like its best-selling vegan cream eggs, has outsold.
“We start selling our cream eggs in February, so there is a long Easter period,” Gaskell stated. “They are the most wanted product, and they are going straight away. We can’t keep up with it—they are selling out in under five minutes-she added.” During this time, the company is heat sealing all truffles in a biodegradable plastic bag to ensure that no airborne contact happens.
Europe is expected to dominate the vegan chocolate market followed by North America in terms of value share in the forecasted period owing to increase in concern on animal ethics, health, and greener environment, also high disposable income, advanced technology, the presence of R&D centers along with manufacturing facilities. Asia-Pacific, Latin America, and Middle East and Africa shows moderate potential for vegan chocolate market and is estimated to show a moderate growth.
