ROYAL DUYVIS WIENER B.V. ACQUIRES JAF INOX & THOUET

The veteran Dutch company snaps up a young and successful business. Royal Duyvis, founded in 1885 in Koog aan de Zaan, is based in the Netherlands. The company now has offices in Netherlands, Germany, Indonesia and Brazil where it supplies the cocoa industry with processing equipment.

The target of their acquisition is JAF Inox & Thouet, a business that only started in 2008, having been spun off from the Sartori & Pedroso Food Company based in Brazil.

The company builds and delivers a complete set of chocolate making equipment designed for the Brazilian market. Although the company didn’t reveal their rationale for the acquisition, we know that Brazil is a country of chocolate lovers. Brazilians eat an average per capita of 2.5 kg chocolate per year, an appetite that beats other emerging markets such as China (1.2 kg) and India (0.7 kg)

So we can assume that at least part of the decision supporting the acquisition is to assist Royal Duyvis to secure its position in the Brazilian market.

The companies press release is below:

Koog aan de Zaan, Netherlands – September 8, 2021

Royal Duyvis Wiener B.V., one of the leading manufacturers in the cocoa and chocolate processing industry has formally announced the official name changes and rebranding for two of its major subsidiaries, Jaf Inox Indústria de Máquinas de Chocolates S.A.  (JAF Inox) and Thouet Lehmann GmbH (Thouet). They will be rebranded as Duyvis Wiener Brazil and Duyvis Wiener Germany respectively.

Already a global presence in the manufacturing of cocoa and chocolate processing equipment, Royal Duyvis Wiener has made a number of industry acquisitions in the past ten years, which has enabled them to deliver on the entire production process ‘from bean to bar’ for its customers. “Quality has always been the main driver for the Royal Duyvis Wiener Group”, says Theo Pouw, CEO Royal Duyvis Wiener B.V. “The acquisition of both Thouet and JAF Inox allows us to present a full range of high quality equipment solutions to our customers in the cocoa, chocolate, compound and nuts & seeds industry.”

Thouet has an established history in the chocolate and cocoa industry. The German based company has produced relevant manufacturing equipment since 1947. Thouet became part of Royal Duyvis Wiener in 2013 with the aim of supplementing the equipment portfolio. The official rebranding to Duyvis Wiener Germany will strengthen the group’s global branding across all markets.

Given that Thouet is an iconic name within the industry, the business group has chosen to maintain some of its old branding, with all traditional chocolate equipment now carrying the product label ‘Thouet’.

The Brazilian company, JAF Inox, has proven to be a strong market player in the area of gourmet chocolate equipment lines and bean-to-bar concepts. Having been fully acquired by Royal Duyvis Wiener recently, the newly titled Duyvis Wiener Brazil will be a valuable asset in strengthening the business group’s market presence in South America. “The rebrand of our two subsidiaries will further strengthen the global brand of the Royal Duyvis Wiener Group. It is a pleasure to finally announce these products will be branded as part of the Royal Duyvis Wiener family”, says Pouw.
