COLOMBIA’S COFFEE PRODUCTION UP 4% IN AUGUST

Colombia, the world’s leading producer of washed mild Arabica, increased recorded coffee output by 4% in August to 949,000 60-kg bags of green coffee, up from 915,000 bags in the same month in 2021, although it is still down YoY.

From January to August this year, output has surpassed 7.3 million bags, a 7% decrease from the nearly 7.8 million bags produced in the same period last year.

Coffee exports decreased by 4% during the last 12 months

Production in the most recent year (September 2021–August 2022) was close to 12.1 million bags, which is a 9% decrease from the almost 13.2 million bags produced in the same period preceding it. 

In the coffee year (October 2021-August 2022), production declined 11% to a little over 10.8 million bags, down from almost 12.2 million the previous year.

Compared to the same period last year, YTD coffee exports declined 4% to about 7.8 million 60-kg bags of green coffee, down from nearly 8.1 million.

Coffee exports decreased by 4% during the last 12 months, from 12.6 million bags to 12.1 million bags shipped overseas during the previous 12-month period.

During the coffee year, exports were close to 11.1 million 60-kg bags, a 6% decrease from the previous year’s exports of 11.7 million bags.

In August, shipments plummeted 23% to 872,000 60-kg bags, compared to more than 1.1 million in August 2021.
