COCA COLA WITH COFFEE TO BE LAUNCHED SOON IN A BET TO BOOST SALES

Coca Cola, the global beverage company is introducing ‘Coca Cola With Coffee’ in the U.S. market in January 2021. The company is launching this new product to the US market in a bid to boost sales.

The new product will be Coca-Cola soda blended with brewed Brazilian coffee. The drink will come in three flavours: caramel, dark blend and vanilla presented in its tall slim 12oz (ca. 454 g) cans.

Coca-Cola already has connections to coffee, it already owns the Georgia Coffee and Costa Coffee brands. The concept behind ‘Coca-Cola With Coffee’ isn’t actually as ‘new’ as its marketed. In 2006, Coca-Cola launched ‘Coca-Cola Blak’, a coffee-flavored version of its signature product. The reception was cold, and the beverage flopped. They stopped selling the product in 2008, just two years after it launched.

In addition, the beverage ‘Behemoth’ initially rolled out in trial form in Australia a couple of years ago. Coca-Cola went on to tweak the product as it rolled it out in Vietnam and other regions as ‘Coke Plus Coffee’.

The beverage giant has a combination self-launched products and several large acquisitions, Coca-Cola’s empire now spans more than 4,700 products across more than 500 different brands. A new product line does only a little, but they are trying to boost it sales.

Consumption of the Coca-Cola brand was at its peak in 2004, but revenue has declined in the past 6 years, with this year being at its worst as an effect from Covid-19. The company experienced a brief spike in March with consumers stocking up on beverages, but it didn’t last. Organic revenue plunged 26% in its last quarter as store-level sales plummeted due to restaurants, cafés, bars, etc was largely shut during the period.

‘Coca Cola With Coffee’ will be launched in the US January next year, it would be interesting to find out the sales outcome of this launch and how consumers think of this new product.
