CARVETII COFFEE LAUNCH RECYCLING INITIATIVE

Carvetii Coffee Roasters launches a new recycling initiative for wholesale and retail customers.

More than 2.5 billion coffee cups are being thrown away in the UK each year, along with Covid-19, use of disposable cups increased due to re-usable cups were not accepted in coffee shops.

Many of this waste from high street chains are either dumped on our roads, ending up in our rivers or in a landfill.

Owner and co-founder, Angharad MacDonald, said:

“We’ve seen record growth in our online orders and monthly coffee subscriptions, so we felt strongly that we needed to offer our retail customers the opportunity to recycle their empty coffee bags.”

Wholesale customers such as cafes and restaurants will be given a free recycling box for takeaway cups, and retail customers able to return empty coffee bags to the Carvetii team to recycle.

The roaster already recycles everything it can, from coffee sacks to nitrile gloves used to pack the beans.

The initiative launched during UK Coffee Week (October 19-25) aims to boost recycling efforts across the county.

The new coffee bag recycling box at the roastery is aimed for people to drop their bags off or save them up and return them easier. Alternatively, through the post for them to recycle on their behalf.
