BELLWETHER COFFEE APPOINTS EXPERIENCED CFO. ANOTHER IPO DUE?

Bellwether Coffee has revealed coffee and technology veteran Paul Yee to its company as Chief Financial Officer (CFO).

With more than 20 years of experience helping build top-tier, global brands, Bellwether said Yee excels at working within industry-shaping, growth-driven companies.

Previously, Paul was the CFO at Stitch Fix, where he led the US$137million initial public offering (IPO) of the technology-powered apparel retailer.

Paul’s successes and experience in helping lead high-growth companies, like Stitch Fix, Method, and Peet’s will be invaluable to Bellwether.

Before that, Yee was CFO of Method Products, and spent more than six years at Peet’s Coffee, most recently as the Vice President of Finance and Investor Relations.

Paul helped see Peet’s Coffee through an acquisition by a private investment group for US$1 billion in 2012, as well.

Bartalks will follow this company with interest, as it is not unusual for a CFO with experience in taking companies public to join companies that are in an early stage of planning such an event.

Combined with the fact that Yee had worked with with Peet’s as well, and we strongly suspect that Bellwether Coffee is brewing either an IPO or some Merger & Acquisition activity.

Bellwether Coffee has announced its stronger quarter to date in Q2, 2020, with more than 100 percent growth over the year before new roaster installs.

With the COVID-19 pandemic hitting the food and beverage industry severely, Bellwether Coffee has seen success due to the added revenue streams the roaster can provide to customers, via wholesale, e-commerce opportunities, and retail.

As CFO at Bellwether, Yee will manage all finance functions and specific operational functions. He will provide coaching and mentoring to relevant team members as the company iterates on its product and recognises new sales channels.

Yee has a Master of Business Administration degree and a Bachelor of Arts degree from Stanford University. He is a certified running coach at the Road Runners Club of America.
