A newly-founded company, Maison Duplanteur, has signed an agreement with BEAR Mühlen & Behälter for a ‘bean to bar’ processing line.

The processing equipment from BEAR will make it possible for the start-up to process small quantities of cocoa beans and focus on specific production parameters for different bean origins.

Maison Duplanteur puts high value on traceability and flavour development and has established connections to cocoa plantations in a number of different origins. Using the small scale machinery supplied by BEAR, it wants to work on small batches of what it describes as ‘single origin, single taste’ chocolate.

The company’s factory in Grasse, near Cannes, will welcome visitors keen to experience the chocolate-making process and will include an in-house museum. The new plant is due to start production shortly.
